Risk Governance Specialist
Role: Risk Governance Specialist AVP Location: London, UK Contract: 6 Months PAYE About the role Investment Bank Financial Crime (IB FC) is responsible for the management and oversight of financial crime risk for the Investment Bank, which comprises Banking, Markets, Research and the International Corporate Bank, and its service providers. The IB FC Governance & Oversight function is responsible for governance, training & communications and quality assurance of IB financial crime control processes. Key Responsibilities Lead selected governance transformation workstreams.
Manage IB FC’s risk-based approach inventory.
Enhance IB FC’s approach for managing regulatory / audit requests and visits.
Identify and implement improvements to FC controls QC design and operation.
Produce and maintain IB FC Governance artefacts.
Map IB FC book of work to schedule of regulatory commitments, audit and 2LoD findings and self-identified issues.
To be successful in this role you will have: Understanding of financial crime risk in investment banking (Banking & Markets), including AML, Sanctions, and ABC requirements.
Knowledge of how 1LoD financial crime controls operate (KYC/CDD, transaction due diligence, sanctions screening, escalations) and risk control frameworks.
Proven ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues from multiple functions and execute tasks to agreed timeframes.
Excellent communication and presentation skills — able to manage stakeholders and explain complex topics clearly.
Data-driven mindset with ability to interpret MI and use insights to drive continuous improvement.
Experience of managing projects and/or delivering dedicated programme workstreams.
Desirable skills include: Experience in a 1LoD/2LoD Financial Crime within an investment bank.
Familiarity with global financial crime regulations and regulatory expectations (FCA, PRA, BSA, OFAC, FATF, EU, MAS, etc.).
Relevant professional qualifications (e.g., ICA Diploma in AML, ACAMS, or equivalent).
