Structural Engineer – Bridge Department - Construction - Nigeria

Job Title STRUCTURAL ENGINEER - BRIDGE DEPARTMENT Location: Lagos, Nigeria Employment Type: Full-Time Department: Bridge Department Reporting To: Head of Bridge / Structural Engineering Qualification: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering , or a related discipline. Experience: 3 5 years of relevant professional experience in structural or bridge engineering. Job Summary We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Structural Engineer to join our Bridge Department in Lagos. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting bridge and structural engineering projects through structural drafting, Revit 3D modelling, reinforcement detailing, Bar Bending Schedule (BBS) preparation, quantity take-offs, BOQ preparation, and technical documentation . The ideal candidate should have practical exposure to bridge engineering or major infrastructure projects , with strong hands-on expertise in Revit, structural and reinforcement detailing, BBS, BOQ, quantity estimation, and Microsoft Excel . The role will involve close coordination with design, BIM, engineering, quantity surveying, and site teams to ensure accurate and timely project deliverables. Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain accurate 3D structural models using Revit for bridge and related structural works. Prepare detailed structural, reinforcement, and construction drawings based on approved engineering designs and specifications. Carry out structural drafting and reinforcement detailing for bridges and associated structures. Prepare reinforcement plans, sections, elevations, layouts, and detailed construction drawings. Develop and verify Bar Bending Schedules (BBS) and reinforcement schedules. Interpret structural drawings, engineering calculations, specifications, sketches, and design information and convert them into accurate construction documentation. Review, modify, and update drawings and Revit models in line with approved design revisions. Ensure all drawings and models comply with applicable project specifications, engineering standards, and construction requirements. Support bridge design activities by preparing technical drawings, documentation, and other engineering deliverables. Perform quantity take-offs and assist with the preparation, checking, and updating of Bills of Quantities (BOQ). Use Microsoft Excel for quantity schedules, engineering calculations, analysis, reporting, and project documentation. Coordinate structural models and drawings with civil, architectural, MEP, geotechnical, and other multidisciplinary inputs as required. Work closely with structural engineers, BIM teams, project managers, quantity surveyors, and site engineers to identify and resolve technical and detailing issues. Provide technical clarification to site teams regarding drawings, reinforcement details, and construction requirements. Identify inconsistencies between drawings, Revit models, specifications, and actual site conditions and support their resolution. Maintain accurate document control, drawing registers, revision records, BBS, BOQs, models, calculations, and technical documentation. Ensure all assigned engineering deliverables are completed accurately, efficiently, and within project timelines.

Required Qualifications

Demonstrable experience working on bridge projects or major infrastructure developments. Practical experience in structural drafting and preparation of construction drawings. Strong hands-on proficiency in Revit for structural 3D modelling and documentation. Experience in reinforcement detailing and BBS preparation/checking. Experience with quantity take-offs and BOQ preparation/review. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and MS Office. Strong understanding of structural engineering principles, construction methodologies, reinforcement detailing, and technical documentation.

Required Technical Skills

Bridge Engineering: Bridge design support, detailing, and technical documentation. Reinforcement Detailing: Preparation of reinforcement plans, sections, elevations, and layouts. BBS: Preparation, checking, and updating of Bar Bending Schedules. Drawing Interpretation: Ability to interpret and review engineering drawings, calculations, and specifications. BOQ & Quantity Take-Offs: Accurate measurement, estimation, and quantity documentation. Microsoft Excel: Engineering calculations, quantity schedules, analysis, and reporting. Technical Documentation: Drawing revisions, document control, and engineering records.
