WIPER (MARINE CRAFT)

Cleans the engine spaces and machinery, involves removing oil, grease and dirt. Assists in maintenance, assists the Engine Officers and Oilers in routine maintenance tasks (oiling, machinery, replacing parts, or assisting with repairs). Monitors certain machinery and reporting any abnormalities to the engineers. Other duties, e.g. handling stores, helping with inventory of tools and spares, and other general duties as assigned by the C/E. Cleans suction strainers and filters used in daily operation. Assists in the transfer operations of bilge water, fuel oil and in ballasting and de-ballasting operations. Keeps engine room clean and orderly.
