This position is with Child and Youth Services at the Redstone Arsenal. Morale Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Child and Youth Services (CYS) Employee Childcare Fee: Available to MWR CYS Regular and FLEX (working a minimum of 15 hours) First Child: 100% childcare fee discount (all CYS employees) Second and Subsequent Child: At least 25% childcare fee discount (all CYS employees)

Major duties

  • Develops and follows efficient, consistent and safe bus routes for routine trips (e.g., to and from school) to minimize transportation time.
  • Ensures the safety and well-being of children, youth and adults being transported to and from the program and on field trips.
  • Practices bus evacuation following prescribed procedures with children and youth on a monthly basis.
  • Arranges for and ensures completion of routine maintenance of bus (e.g., oil change) transporting the bus to and from maintenance facilities.
  • Completes a comprehensive written inspection of the bus daily, reporting any concerns to the supervisor before transporting children/youth.

Qualifications

A qualified candidate must possess the following: High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma. Ability to communicate in English at a level to assure the duties described can be accomplished in a safe and satisfactory manner. Experience in accomplishing the types of duties described in this job. Requires a valid state driver's license to operate a 15 passenger vehicle.
