About the company

Tethys Robotics develops innovative robotic solutions for subsea inspection & investigation operations in challenging conditions. We serve governmental organizations, large asset operators and industrial service providers operating in high-demand and mission-critical environments.

As an ETH Zürich spin-off, we are a fast-growing pioneer in underwater robotics, rooted in Switzerland. As we scale from individual systems towards the production and delivery of multiple robots in parallel, we are looking for a hands-on UI Software Engineer to help develop, industrialize and continuously improve our robotic platforms.

Your tasks

  • Develop and integrate complex UI modules, connecting disparate systems and data streams.
  • Implement sophisticated real-time data visualizations.
  • Implement core user interactions with robotic systems and web applications.
  • Perform functional verification tests and troubleshoot issues.
  • Support user interviews and help translate requirements into design input criteria.
  • Work with the development team to refine the visual and interaction layer.
  • Create technical documentation for user interaction and implementation.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience with Unity (C# and uGUI) or a TypeScript framework (Vue.js or similar). Experience with both is a strong advantage.
  • 1+ year of hands-on experience developing real-time visualization systems.
  • A passion for human-computer interaction (HCI) and the ability to translate abstract requirements into concrete, production-ready code.
  • Completed education in computer science, software engineering, human-computer interaction, game development, or another highly technical engineering field with a focus on user-centric software development.
  • Understanding of event-driven programming and experience applying it in software development.
  • Experience working with Git version control.
  • Strong problem-solving and connected thinking skills.
  • A drive to write clean, high-quality code.
  • Comfortable working in a cross-functional team.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.
  • Interest in underwater robotics.

  • Experience with map rendering and interaction logic in both 2D and 3D.
  • Hands-on experience with drones or other robotic systems.
  • Experience with high-performance rendering or computationally intensive visualizations, such as compute shaders, graphics pipelines, or point clouds.
  • Knowledge of clean code practices and software design principles such as SOLID.
  • Experience with automated testing, CI/CD, or GitHub Actions.
  • Familiarity with concurrent programming.
  • Experience with Python.

What we offer
