Software Engineer (Semiconductor Equipment)

Job Summary
Develop and maintain control software for industrial machines using C#(.NET) & C++, integrating motion control, host communication, and vision systems. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support machine bring-up, debugging, and multi-language UI.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain handler control software in C# & C++, including machine sequences, device control, and operator GUI to ensure efficient machine operation
- Contribute to a common software platform shared across multiple machines, promoting code reuse and consistency
- Integrate motion control systems using EtherCAT and TwinCAT protocols for precise equipment movement
- Implement host communication protocols using SECS/GEM to enable reliable data exchange with host systems
- Integrate vision applications and other vendor equipment through APIs to enhance machine capabilities
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, vision, and process engineers to support machine bring-up, debugging, and buy-off activities
- Write clean, documented, and testable code; participate in code reviews and release planning to maintain software quality
- Support multi-language user interfaces including English and Chinese to accommodate diverse user needs
Required competencies and certifications
- Degree or Diploma in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field
- At least 2 years of software development experience for industrial machines, automation equipment, or semiconductor equipment (fresh graduates with strong projects may apply for Associate level)
- Proficient programming skills in C# (.NET) and C++, with a willingness to primarily work in C#
- Strong understanding of object-oriented design, multithreading, and event-driven system architectures
- Ability to work hands-on with real machines on the production floor and troubleshoot hardware-software integration issues
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Experience with semiconductor handlers, test handlers, pick-and-place, or die/wafer handling equipment
- Experience with EtherCAT, TwinCAT, Beckhoff, or other motion control technologies
- Experience implementing SECS/GEM communication protocols
- Familiarity with WPF/WinForms, or modern .NET UI frameworks
- Experience integrating vision systems, testers, or other third-party equipment
- Ability to communicate in Mandarin to liaise with customers, vendors, and partners
