CONSEQUENTIAL WORK. DEDICATED PEOPLE.

ABOUT ONEBRIEF

Onebrief builds collaboration and AI-powered workflow software for military planning and operational coordination.

Military planning is complex by nature, requiring teams to coordinate information, people, and decisions across systems and locations. Onebrief brings planning, collaboration, simulation, and AI into one connected environment, helping teams test strategies, adapt to changing conditions, and make decisions with greater clarity when the stakes are real.

We are a distributed team of builders from military, operational, and technology backgrounds who care deeply about improving how important work gets done. Some team members work remotely, while others work directly alongside customers in operational environments around the world.

Founded in 2019, Onebrief is backed by leading investors including General Catalyst, Battery Ventures, Insight Partners, Sapphire Ventures, and Human Capital. Valued at more than $2 billion, we continue to invest in product innovation, AI capabilities, and team growth.

WHY THIS ROLE EXISTS

We're hiring a Senior AI Product Designer who can independently own the user experience for a product area and contribute quickly. This role is built for someone who can ramp fast and start shipping without heavy onboarding.

You'll own the definition of what users need and how they interact with Onebrief: partnering with Product to translate essential user goals into the interface elements and behavior that support them, and making the quality-vs-speed trade-offs that keep releases moving. You'll be the one who articulates those trade-offs clearly enough, and presents solutions confidently enough, to move the team forward.

You'll also build deep expertise in how our users actually work, particularly military planners operating under real-world constraints, and contribute to the design language that keeps Onebrief cohesive across surfaces. AI is one of the tools in your kit, used fluently alongside traditional design foundations, but this role is defined by the outcomes you drive: clarity for users, cohesion across the product, and trade-offs made well.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Own the UX definition for a product area: what users need, how they interact with the product, and why, partnering with Product to translate essential user goals into interface elements and behavior.
  • Act as the arbiter of quality vs. speed for your scope, flexing your craft to fit release priorities, and articulate trade-offs clearly enough to move teams forward.
  • Build deep expertise in how your users actually work by meeting with them, mapping their workflows, and documenting the human and organizational context that shapes their work so others can build on it.
  • Own pattern decisions for your area and contribute to Onebrief's broader design language and system, applying informed taste and craft.
  • Evaluate emerging AI UX patterns and apply them deliberately. Know when a pattern fits a given use case and when it doesn't.
  • Combine traditional design foundations and AI-native workflows to produce work across a range of fidelities, flexing between moving fast and diving deep.
  • Document design intent through both visual representation and written documentation for human collaborators and agentic tools alike.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Track record independently owning the UX definition for a product area or workflow, end-to-end, from understanding user needs through shipped interface decisions.
  • Craft demonstrates expertise in foundational UX/UI concepts and practices, with concrete examples of articulating trade-offs (quality vs. speed, scope vs. fidelity) that moved a team forward.
  • Experience building deep user/workflow expertise firsthand through direct user research and workflow mapping, and documenting it in a way others could act on.
  • Has led strategic and tactical implementation of at least one major AI-based workflow in a SaaS application.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of emerging AI UX patterns and a clear process for evaluating when, where, and how to apply them for a given use case.
  • Advanced user of AI design tools, with intermediate-level knowledge of how foundational models work and their tradeoffs, not just how to prompt them.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience contributing to or codifying design system/pattern decisions beyond your own project, helping scale consistency across surfaces.
  • Solid grasp of accessibility and interaction design fundamentals, with experience communicating that expertise to others.
  • Active, contributing member of the design systems community.
  • Track record of actively advancing your team's overall workflows or ability to produce effectively with AI tools and practices, not just your own individual output.

INDICATORS OF SUCCESS

A successful Senior AI Product Designer will, within six months:

  • Be independently owning UX definition and trade-off decisions for their product area, with minimal oversight.
  • Have shipped work that used AI meaningfully in the process, not as decoration, but as a real accelerant to quality or speed.
  • Have documented user/workflow expertise that other designers or collaborators have actually used to make decisions.
  • Have contributed to or expanded Onebrief's design language in a way that improved cohesion across surfaces.
  • Be a trusted partner to Product and Engineering, presenting solutions and trade-offs that move projects forward.
