Field Service Engineer
Midlands £40K to £45K plus car allowance
Our client is recruiting for an experienced Field Service Engineer to join their team in the Midlands. This is a varied, hands-on position supporting customers across the UK. You will work with a broad portfolio of equipment, providing installation, maintenance, fault-finding and technical support at customer sites. You will be:
Completing planned preventative maintenance, servicing and repairs Installing and commissioning new equipment at customer locations Diagnosing electrical & mechanical faults Responding to breakdowns and working to restore equipment as quickly as possible Providing technical assistance both remotely and on-site Testing equipment following maintenance or repair to ensure correct and safe operation Completing calibration work and, following appropriate training, supporting IQ/OQ/PQ and temperature-mapping activities Maintaining appropriate levels of spare parts and service stock Producing accurate service reports, calibration records and associated documentation Coordinating with Customer Care, Service Management and fellow engineers to ensure service visits are effectively planned and completed Acting as a professional and knowledgeable point of contact for customers throughout each visit Identifying additional maintenance, equipment or service requirements and passing opportunities to the relevant commercial teams Highlighting recurring faults, product issues and potential service improvements Supporting projects, process improvements and initiatives designed to improve efficiency and customer experience Following company health and safety procedures and individual customer-site requirements Keeping technical knowledge and qualifications up to date through ongoing training
The ideal candidate will:
Have previous experience as a Field Service Engineer, Service Engineer, Service Technician, Refrigeration Engineer or in another comparable technical position Have strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding ability Have a structured and logical approach to diagnosing technical problems Have good practical engineering skills and the ability to find solutions in the field Have previous experience of installation, servicing, maintenance or repair Have excellent customer-facing and communication skills Have good IT skills and experience completing electronic reports and service documentation Have a full UK driving licence Have the flexibility to travel throughout the UK when necessary, including occasional overnight stays Ideally have F-Gas certification
Working hours are Monday to Friday 9am to 5.30pm, flexibility is required for these hours.
