Quality Assurance & Quality Control Manager, Nussir Processing Plant
Location: Site Base, must be residential to the Nussir Project Site
Reports To: Site Project Director (Construction Phase) / Plant Operations Manager (Operations Phase)

Position Summary
The QA/QC Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining quality assurance and quality control systems for a mineral processing plant across both the construction and operational phases.
This role ensures that all engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operational activities comply with applicable standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements. The QA/QC Manager plays a critical role in establishing a culture of quality, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Construction Phase (EPCM / Build-Out)
Develop and implement the Project Quality Management Plan (QMP)
Establish QA/QC procedures, inspection and test plans (ITPs), and quality documentation systems
Review engineering deliverables for compliance with specifications and standards
Ensure contractor and vendor quality programs meet project requirements
Oversee inspection and testing of:
Structural, mechanical, piping, and electrical installations
Process equipment (crushers, mills, flotation cells, thickeners, etc.)
Manage non-conformance reports (NCRs) , corrective actions, and root cause analysis
Coordinate third-party inspections and certifications
Conduct audits of EPCM contractors, suppliers, and site activities
Ensure proper material traceability and documentation control
Support pre-commissioning and commissioning activities, including system handover documentation
Commissioning & Start-Up
Verify quality readiness for commissioning systems and subsystems
Ensure completion of punch lists and deficiency tracking
Validate test work, calibration, and performance verification processes
Support development of operational quality procedures and control plans
Ensure turnover documentation is complete, accurate, and auditable
Operations Phase (Process Plant)
Develop and maintain the Operational Quality Management System (QMS)
Implement QA/QC procedures for:
Ore sampling and assaying
Metallurgical accounting and reconciliation
Process control and optimization
Product quality (concentrates, tailings, etc.)
Oversee laboratory QA/QC programs, including:
Sample preparation, analysis, and certification
External lab audits and round-robin testing
Monitor plant performance against quality KPIs and metallurgical targets
Lead investigations into production deviations and quality failures
Ensure compliance with regulatory, environmental, and customer specifications
Drive continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma principles)
Documentation & Compliance
Establish and manage document control systems for QA/QC records
Ensure compliance with applicable standards (e.g., ISO 9001 or equivalent)
Maintain inspection records, test reports, and quality dossiers
Prepare quality reports for management and stakeholders
Support internal and external audits
Leadership & Stakeholder Coordination
Lead and develop the QA/QC team (inspectors, lab personnel, technicians)
Interface with engineering, construction, operations, and maintenance teams
Act as the primary quality liaison with contractors, vendors, and regulators
Promote a strong quality and safety culture across the site
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in:
Metallurgical Engineering
Chemical Engineering
Mineral Processing
Mechanical Engineering or related field
Professional designation (P.Eng. or equivalent) preferred
Experience
10+ years of experience in QA/QC within mining or mineral processing
Experience in both plant construction and operations is strongly preferred
Proven experience in EPC/EPCM project environments
Strong background in process plant systems (crushing, grinding, flotation, dewatering, etc.)
Experience with laboratory QA/QC and metallurgical accounting is an asset
Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of QA/QC systems, standards, and methodologies
Experience with:
Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs)
Non-Conformance Management Systems
Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
Familiarity with ISO standards (e.g., ISO 9001)
Understanding of metallurgical processes and plant performance metrics
Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools
