SEN Class Teacher Vacancy in SEN School based in Sutton area (Immediate Start)
We are currently recruiting for an SEN Teacher to join a specialist school on a full-time, long-term basis for the academic year . This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who enjoys working within a small, well-supported classroom environment and wants to make a genuine impact on pupils with additional needs. You will be teaching a KS4 secondary class of approximately 7 pupils, allowing you to build strong relationships and provide highly individualised support.
About The Role Teaching a small KS4 class of approximately 7 pupils Pupils are non-verbal and have a range of sensory and additional learning needs Delivering lessons across all curriculum subjects, in line with the school's curriculum Adapting teaching and activities to suit different communication, sensory and learning needs Supporting pupils with challenging behaviour using consistent and positive behaviour strategies Working closely with Teaching Assistants and other SEN professionals within the classroom Some pupils require personal care, so you will need to be comfortable working within an environment where this support is provided Creating an engaging, structured and supportive classroom environment
Who We're Looking For Ideally, you will have: QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification Previous SEN teaching experience within a specialist SEN school Alternatively, strong experience working within an SEN provision/resource base, particularly on a long-term basis Experience supporting pupils with complex needs, sensory needs and communication difficulties Confidence managing behaviours that can sometimes be challenging A patient, adaptable and consistent approach The ability to teach across different curriculum areas rather than specialising in one subject
Working Hours & Contract Monday to Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm Immediate Start to Full academic year Location London Borough of Sutton Pay We pay candidates according to pay scale
Trial Day Selected candidates will be invited to attend paid trial day(s) during July 2026 as part of the recruitment process. This is initially a long-term placement , with the potential for the successful teacher to apply for a permanent position directly with the school should a suitable vacancy become available.
