Position Overview
The SKU Standardization Specialist supports the implementation and ongoing maintenance of PetVet's enterprise SKU standards across the PIMS systems used throughout the network. This role completes assigned SKU system activities, maintains accurate SKU information, supports approved system changes, and helps resolve day-to-day SKU and PIMS issues affecting care-center teams.
The Specialist brings hands-on experience with PetVet PIMS systems and understands how SKU setup, charges, pricing, reporting, and care-center workflows connect. They work within established SKU standards, processes, and PIMS support channels and escalate issues or decisions that require additional technical or program guidance.
Key Responsibilities
SKU & PIMS System Support:
Complete assigned SKU setup, updates, conversions, and maintenance activities within PetVet PIMS systems according to approved standards and processes.
Review SKU information for accuracy, completeness, and consistency with approved enterprise standards.
Support the implementation of approved SKU changes across applicable PIMS environments.
Identify SKU configuration or data issues and resolve routine issues within established processes and role authority.
Escalate system issues, exceptions, or more complex configuration needs through PetVet's established PIMS support model.
Maintain accurate documentation of completed system changes, issues, and resolutions.
Understand how SKU changes may affect charge capture, pricing, reporting, permissions, and care-center workflows.
Care-Center & Rollout Support:
Support care-center teams as standardized SKUs are implemented and adopted.
Respond to routine SKU and PIMS questions and help teams navigate established processes and support channels.
Capture recurring care-center issues and identify patterns that may require changes to standards, processes, or system configuration.
Help ensure SKU tools, instructions, and system processes are practical for care-center teams.
Carry lessons from implementation into ongoing SKU maintenance and support activities.
SKU Governance Support:
Follow established SKU naming, configuration, exception, approval, and change-control standards.
Maintain required SKU and system documentation.
Support approved SKU requests and changes through established governance processes.
Identify requests or exceptions requiring review by the Sr. Specialist, Director, or designated governance owner.
What Success Looks Like:
Assigned SKU system work is completed accurately, consistently, and on time.
SKU information within PetVet PIMS systems aligns with approved enterprise standards.
Routine SKU and PIMS issues are resolved efficiently, with more complex issues routed through the appropriate support channels.
Care-center teams receive practical, knowledgeable support when standardized SKUs are implemented or maintained.
System changes and issue resolutions are documented clearly and consistently.
The Specialist becomes a reliable resource for the day-to-day intersection of SKU standards, PIMS systems, and care-center workflows.
Qualifications (Required)
One or more years of experience working in or directly supporting veterinary practices, veterinary systems, PIMS, or multi-site veterinary operations.
Hands-on experience with one or more PIMS systems used within the PetVet network.
Working knowledge of veterinary hospital workflows, including charges, pricing, client checkout, inventory, and reporting.
Understanding of PetVet's PIMS support model, including how system questions and issues are routed and escalated.
Ability to accurately complete detailed system and data-related work using established standards and processes.
Ability to identify discrepancies, troubleshoot routine issues, and recognize when escalation is needed.
Working knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint.
Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with care-center and home-office teams.
Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)
Experience supporting SKU, item, service, charge, or product catalog maintenance within a veterinary PIMS.
Experience working across multiple PIMS platforms or veterinary hospital environments.
Experience with master data, product catalogs, data governance, system changes, multi-site implementations, or standardization initiatives.
