Senior Software Engineer Commerce Systems
About the Position YABA sells five brands across Amazon, our own Shopify stores, marketplaces like iHerb, and retailers like Target. Behind that sit NetSuite, several 3PLs and a growing set of integrations, pricing rules and internal tools. We're looking for a senior engineer to own big pieces of that system end to end.
This is a senior role in a small Tech team, reporting to the CTO. You'll start by owning our commerce integrations - inventory, orders, EDI, marketplaces, 3PLs and NetSuite - and then take on the internal tools we need next, starting with a pricing back office that controls prices per channel.
We are AI-first. Most of our code is written by AI coding agents like Claude Code, and we build rather than buy - custom beats expensive, rigid middleware for our use cases. That makes the hard part of the job judgement, not typing: deciding what to build, directing the agent precisely, and above all evaluating its output with a critical eye. We're looking for someone who assumes generated code is wrong until proven right, catches the subtle mistakes (a silent data drift, a missing retry, a secret in the wrong place), and owns what ships in production
How you will contribute You'll own workstreams from the first conversation with the business to running them in production. You'll work with Operations, Supply Chain, Finance and Brand Management, and with vendors such as SPS Commerce, Mirakl, our 3PLs and our NetSuite partner.
As a member of this team you will Own the integrations between NetSuite, Shopify, Amazon, marketplaces, EDI partners and 3PLs (orders, stock, shipments and invoices)
Keep stock accurate across every channel: sync, allocation rules and daily reconciliation with alerts when anything drifts
Build internal tools and back-office apps, starting with a pricing tool that sets prices per channel within rules (Amazon Buy Box and reference-price constraints, margin floors, approvals)
Replace fragile no-code automations (Make, n8n) with maintainable code where it matters
Run what you build: monitoring, alerting, runbooks, and fixing incidents when they happen
Work directly with vendors and retailers' technical teams to pin down specs and resolve issues
Act as the CTO's backup for day-to-day tech operations: first responder for tech requests, incidents and access management when the CTO is away
Work AI-first every day: brief agents precisely, then review their output critically: tests, edge cases, failure modes, security, and reconciling results against source systems before anything reaches production
Who will thrive in this role These are some of the traits we would want you to bring to the table: 5+ years building production software, strong in Python or TypeScript
AI-first way of working: you already build most of your code with AI coding agents (Claude Code, Cursor or similar) and have a clear method for verifying what they produce
A critical eye: you spot when output is confidently wrong, you don't trust a green test suite blindly, and you can explain why something that "works" is still not right
Experience integrating business systems through APIs and webhooks: data mapping, idempotency, retries, queues, reconciliation
Able to build a simple internal web app end to end (backend, database, a functional UI)
Solid SQL
You've worked at or with an e-commerce brand, marketplace, 3PL, ERP partner or integrator, and you understand orders, inventory and fulfilment
You own production: you think about monitoring and failure modes before you ship
Autonomous and trustworthy: you take a vague business problem, scope it, and deliver it without being managed step by step, and you can be trusted with admin access to critical systems
Comfortable dealing with vendors and non-technical colleagues directly
Professional level of English and Spanish
Nice to have NetSuite (SuiteTalk REST, SuiteQL, saved searches)
EDI (X12 850 / 856 / 810 / 846)
Amazon SP-API, Shopify Admin API, or other marketplace APIs
Pricing or repricing logic
GCP, Terraform, Docker
