Software Engineer (Control Integration)
About Woven by Toyota Woven by Toyota contributes to Toyota's transformation into a mobility company once-in-a-century. Inspired by our history of continuing to invent "for someone other than ourselves," our mission is to expand the definition of mobility, extend the ways mobility contributes to society, and continue to challenge the common sense of mobility through innovation that considers people.
We operate around four main pillars: AD/ADAS (Automated Driving / Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) technology, Arene, a vehicle software production platform for SDV (Software Defined Vehicle); Woven City, a mobility test course; and Cloud & AI, the digital infrastructure that supports our collaborative foundation. Additionally, essential business functions support the implementation of these teams, working together toward the realization of a "zero accident society" and the "mass production of happiness."

About the Team The Behavior Actuation team develops cutting-edge vehicle control and state estimation algorithms from the prototype stage to the mass production stage. Utilizing control theory, optimization, and machine learning, we design and implement real-time vehicle control solutions that have a quantitative impact on automated driving performance. In this position, you will appropriately concretize software requirements, consider and coordinate software design from a system-level perspective, and provide mass-production quality code based on verification and validation best practices.
Ideal Candidate A software engineer with experience in the control field who is passionate about improving the lives of millions through AD/ADAS.
Someone who understands MPC (Model Predictive Control) at a practical level and can organize and coordinate requirements to achieve simple and slim software design without being bound by current methods.
Someone who can communicate design trade-offs and the scope of impact of changes concisely and clearly.
Someone with the motivation to continuously learn and refine modern C++ skills while being mindful of mass-production code best practices (familiarity with C++ coding guidelines such as AUTOSAR is a plus).
Job Description Break down high-level requirements into implementable requirements without excessively constraining the software design.
Deeply understand technical themes such as Model Predictive Control, estimation, and control theory, and build consensus with stakeholders regarding implementation details.
Implement mass-production level C++ code.
Evaluate and verify C++ code and controller performance, ranging from unit testing to integrated simulation and vehicle testing.
Minimum Qualifications Master's or PhD in control engineering, estimation, robotics, or a related field.
3+ years of professional experience in AD/ADAS or a similar field (robotics, other control systems).
Deep understanding of vehicle dynamics, control, and estimation.
Programming experience with C++.
Communication skills in English sufficient for business operations (speaking, reading, and writing).
A software engineer with experience in the control field who is passionate about improving the lives of millions through AD/ADAS.
Preferred Qualifications Communication skills in Japanese.
