About the Team Toyota will redefine the meaning of mobility. We will move people, goods, information, and energy, and continue to challenge the common sense of mobility. Woven City serves as a test course to create and test various such mobilities, aiming for the mass production of happiness with the concepts of a human-centric city, a city for demonstration experiments, and an unfinished city.

The Robot Platform team expands the concept of mobility beyond the framework of vehicles, developing human-centric robots that work alongside people in daily life. While co-creating with Weavers and Inventors in Woven City, we are building an integrated robot platform and developing robots that become smarter with every use and gain empathy from people. Our robots aim to liberate people from tedious tasks and expand human potential. Our goal is to combine SW/HW platforms, AI, urban infrastructure, and mass production to make Woven City a hub for robot products.

Requirements We are looking for talented and proactive backend software engineers to drive the construction of robot platform products and services together with us. While deploying and operating production systems in Woven City, we are constantly exploring new ways to integrate human-centric robots into daily life. We need excellent engineers who can evolve the platform for future applications while maintaining a highly reliable production environment. Responsibilities

• Responsible for the design, development, maintenance, and deployment of high-quality, reliable backend services for the robot platform.

• Continuously improve test quality and coverage, as well as CI/CD pipelines and monitoring infrastructure.

• Collaborate with hardware, firmware, frontend, and business teams to contribute to the improvement of overall system design and the evolution of robot products and services.

• Monitor deployed services, diagnose failures, and coordinate/collaborate with the local Woven City operations team.

• Travel to Woven City for on-site troubleshooting and maintenance as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.

• 5+ years of professional experience in backend software development (including object-oriented design, debugging, testing, version control systems, and the use of CI/CD).

• Practical experience and high technical proficiency using Java and modern tools (Gradle, Maven, Spring Boot, etc.).

• High communication and collaboration skills in a multicultural and diverse work environment.

• Strong ownership and proactivity, with the ability to quickly learn new technologies in a dynamic environment.

• Business-level English proficiency (reading, writing, and speaking).

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of data communication protocols such as AMQP/MQTT and message brokers such as RabbitMQ.

• Experience in developing and deploying containerized applications using Docker or Podman.

• Experience using observability tools such as OpenTelemetry or Grafana.

• Understanding of DevOps development methodologies, including build, test, documentation, and monitoring.

• Ability to write simple frontend code using modern JavaScript frameworks such as React or TypeScript.

• Business-level Japanese proficiency (reading, writing, and speaking).
