About the Team You will join the Multicloud Runtime team and be involved in the development of an enterprise-grade multicloud runtime service platform. This platform has two primary functions: first, providing a multicloud Kubernetes platform that serves as the core application infrastructure for various Toyota Group companies; and second, providing a cloud-native account vending platform that provisions cloud accounts with embedded security guardrails across multiple cloud vendors, including AWS and GCP. We push the boundaries of cloud-native technology to build platforms with high availability, robustness, and security, creating an environment where developers can create the future of mobility.

Ideal Candidate In the Multicloud Runtime team, we are looking for software engineers who are passionate about cloud-native technology and Kubernetes platform development. You are always keeping up with the latest trends in Kubernetes and the CNCF ecosystem and are eager to actively explore new technologies and ways of working. Furthermore, you find fulfillment in providing resilient, secure, and scalable solutions while collaborating not only with direct team members but also with engineers from other domains.

Responsibilities You will be responsible for the design and implementation of multicloud Kubernetes solutions and cloud services with high availability, cost efficiency, and security.

Develop full-stack software and Kubernetes controllers using Go and Python.

Create automated tests and health checks to validate critical components.

Design modular infrastructure deployment patterns for Kubernetes configurations using common tools such as Kustomize, Helm, and Terraform.

Collaborate with engineers in various fields to contribute to the definition of engineering requirements and the delivery of customer value.

Work with and advise Site Reliability engineers and Observability engineers to perform triage, troubleshooting, and implementation of solutions for production environment issues.

Advise managers and colleagues on Kubernetes and platform engineering best practices and architecture patterns.

Requirements Experience in Kubernetes development and maintenance of large-scale Kubernetes cloud platforms using configuration management tools such as Kustomize and Helm in an enterprise environment.

Advanced knowledge of Kubernetes in Kubernetes infrastructure and security, including service meshes such as Istio.

Experience in development using IaC (Infrastructure as Code) with technologies such as Terraform and Ansible.

3+ years of experience in high-availability cloud platform development on cloud providers such as AWS or GCP.

5+ years of experience in backend software development using languages such as Go or Python.

Experience building CI/CD automation workflows using tools such as GitHub Actions or Jenkins.

Practical knowledge of cloud security and networking best practices.

Ability to clearly explain complex topics to a wide audience, including engineers from other domains, product managers, and other technical leadership.

Business-level English proficiency.

Preferred Qualifications Experience in frontend web application development.

Experience using GitOps tools such as Argo or Flux CD.

A track record of contributions to Kubernetes open-source technology.

Experience in development and maintenance of multi-tenant platforms based on the principle of least privilege.

Experience in high-availability cloud platform development on Azure.

Experience working in a multinational team environment across different time zones.

Business-level Japanese proficiency.
