Mechanical Engineer

Emerging and Non-Traditional Handling (45%)

• Develop feedstock handling and storage systems for recycling facilities (plastics, fabrics, lithium and battery materials), including design for inbound logistics, feedstock storage, pre-processing, finished goods storage and outbound logistics. Handled medium can include bales, big bags and others.
• Design handling systems for energy transition projects, including biomass and pellet handling, concentrated solar power, and direct air carbon capture, often involving cohesive or difficult to flow materials.
• Apply DEM modelling to cohesive and non-traditional materials to improve flow performance and reliability in new process applications.
• Deliver due diligence ("cold eyes")reviews and pre-FEED studies for early stage facilities, including material flow, storage, footprint and equipment sizing calculations.
• Advise clients on evolving EPR legislation and packaging compliance, including data validation, material classification, and compliance gap reviews.

Core Bulk Material Handling (45%)

• Design and specify mining and materials handling systems, including primary crushers, mobile crushers, conveyors, feeders, screens, stackers, reclaimers for both above ground and underground mines.
• Act as package engineer through PFS, FS, and detailed design: conveyor calculations, equipment sizing, data sheets, specifications, material requisitions, and vendor technical bid evaluations.
• Use Rocky DEM to review, simulate, and redesign transfer chutes and head chutes, targeting plugging, wear, and dust generation. Projects range from single problem chutes to packages of 100+ chutes.
• Conduct dust mitigation studies, including site assessments, stakeholder consultation, vendor engagement, and lab testing.
• Perform logistics and trade-off studies (mine to port, intermodal, equipment delivery) comparing CAPEX, OPEX, and NPV.
• Inspect and assess port and terminal equipment(stacker reclaimers, rail car dumpers, ship loaders, transfer towers, surge bins), and support HAZID studies and asset life extension.

Regional Business Development (10%)

• Build relationships with Worley’s Southeast Asian offices and clients and identify opportunities across both traditional and emerging sectors.
• Route work between the Singapore office and the North American and Australian centers of excellence and identify synergies between them.
• Support proposals, technical presentations, and client engagement.

Requirement:

• Degree in Mechanical, Civil, or a related engineering discipline, with an appropriate professional registration.
• Working knowledge of DEM simulation for bulk material flow.
• Experience preparing technical specifications, datasheets, and vendor evaluations.
• Strong communication skills and comfort working across time zones and multiple offices.
