It has a dedicated project execution team and an established HSE management system on site.
Your tasks
About the role This is a hands-on, site-based HSE role for the 18-month construction phase of the project. Working alongside the Site HSE Manager, you will provide day-to-day HSE supervision on site, making sure every subcontractor does the right job to the right procedure. The site is moving from piling into equipment and instrumentation installation, followed by a heavy programme of piping connections. More subcontractors will mobilise as that happens, and the workforce will build to 70 to 80 people a day at peak. The HSE processes are already in place. The job is making them hold at the workface as the site scales up.
- Supervise subcontractor activities through daily patrols, inspections and in-depth checks, and track corrective actions through to close-out
- Review subcontractor method statements, risk assessments and job hazard analyses, and check that the controls are applied in the field
- Run the permit-to-work system for high-risk activities and overlapping work, including excavation, scaffolding, work at height and lifting
- Attend critical activities such as heavy lifts, pressure tests and machine commissioning
- Enforce Life Saving Rules and the yellow/red card system, and lead toolbox talks and last minute risk analysis (LMRA) before each shift or major task
- Check that worker certifications, statutory training and equipment inspections are valid and on file
- Report incidents and near misses, support root cause investigations, and organise evacuation, fire and first aid drills
- Prepare weekly and monthly HSE reports, inspection records and action trackers for project management and the end customer
Requirements
What we’re looking for
- Workplace Safety and Health Officer (WSHO) certification
- HSE experience on large chemical, petrochemical, industrial gas or oil and gas projects
- Experience across the full project lifecycle, from construction through commissioning and handover; greenfield and brownfield exposure is an advantage
- Confidence supervising several subcontractors at once and holding the line on procedure in the field
- Clear written and spoken English for reporting and for dealing with the customer and subcontractors
- Able to work actively on site every day, including patrols, inspections and work at height areas
