Chinese Translators
Responsibilities:
Provide consecutive interpretation between Mandarin Chinese and English during meetings, discussions, site visits, training sessions, and day-to-day operations.
Translate documents, emails, reports, contracts, instructions, notices, and other business materials between Chinese and English.
Facilitate communication between Chinese-speaking managers and local employees.
Accompany Chinese management or staff to meetings, business appointments, supplier visits, project sites, and other official engagements where translation support is required.
Ensure that translated information accurately reflects the original meaning, tone, and context.
Assist with communication between the company and Chinese clients, suppliers, contractors, and business partners.
Explain cultural or language-related differences where necessary to prevent misunderstandings.
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive company, employee, client, and business information.
Assist Chinese-speaking management with administrative and operational communication when required.
Prepare translated correspondence, presentations, reports, and other business materials.
Support onboarding, training, and workplace communication for Chinese and English-speaking employees.
Maintain a professional glossary of commonly used technical, operational, and industry-specific terminology.
Perform other translation and interpretation duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Chinese Language, Linguistics, Translation, International Relations, Business Administration, or a related field.
Fluency in Mandarin Chinese and English, both spoken and written.
Proven experience as a Chinese Translator, Interpreter, Mandarin Translator, or in a similar role.
Strong listening, speaking, reading, and writing abilities in both languages.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to translate information quickly and accurately while maintaining its original meaning.
Good understanding of Chinese and Nigerian business/workplace culture.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other common workplace communication tools.
Preferred Qualifications
HSK certification or other recognized Chinese-language qualification.
Experience working with Chinese-owned companies or Chinese-speaking management in Nigeria.
Experience in construction, manufacturing, engineering, logistics, trading, oil & gas, or another relevant industry.
Familiarity with technical or industry-specific terminology.
Experience providing both written translation and face-to-face interpretation.
