Responsibilities:

Lead the legal structuring, negotiation and execution of material commercial transactions. Provide strategic legal support for revenue-generating and business-critical transactions, including enterprise agreements, wholesale arrangements, infrastructure sharing, capacity arrangements, technology partnerships, managed services, procurement, digital services and strategic alliances. Act as Legal lead on major strategic deals, partnerships and new business initiatives. Partner with Business Development and Sales in structuring and closing high-value commercial opportunities. Provide legal input into new business models, routes to market, strategic partnerships and asset-monetisation opportunities. Develop and oversee ntel's legal strategy in alignment with corporate and commercial objectives. Serve as principal legal adviser to the CEO, Executive Management and relevant business functions Determine the legal approach to corporate and commercial matters within approved policies and delegated authority. Lead legal negotiations for material transactions, strategic partnerships and commercial agreements. Approve standard legal documentation and contractual positions within delegated authority. Recommend acceptance, modification or rejection of contractual terms presenting material legal or commercial exposure. Determine when external legal support is required and select appropriate external counsel in accordance with company processes. Establish clear scopes, budgets and performance expectations for external counsel. Monitor external legal expenditure and ensure value for money.

Requirements:

Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from a recognised institution. Barrister-at-Law (B.L.) qualification and admission to practise law in Nigeria. Current professional standing as a legal practitioner. Relevant corporate-governance or company-secretarial professional qualification is an advantage. Minimum of 10–15 years' post-call experience, with substantial experience in corporate and commercial law. At least 5–7 years in a senior legal, commercial legal, company secretarial or leadership role. Significant experience as a commercial/transactional lawyer, either within a leading corporate/commercial law firm and/or a complex corporate environment. Demonstrable track record of structuring, negotiating and closing complex and high-value commercial transactions. Strong experience drafting and negotiating sophisticated commercial agreements. Experience supporting revenue-generating businesses and partnering directly with Sales, Business Development, Finance, Procurement, Network and Technology teams. Strong understanding of commercial concepts including pricing, revenue share, margins, payment structures, performance obligations, risk allocation and deal economics. Experience in telecommunications, technology, infrastructure, financial services or another transaction-intensive sector is strongly preferred. Experience with telecommunications infrastructure, technology/vendor arrangements, wholesale agreements, strategic partnerships, financing or asset transactions is highly desirable. Strong experience advising CEOs, Executive Management and Boards. Demonstrable corporate governance and Company Secretariat experience
