Automation & Process Improvement Engineer | Total €85,000 + Car | Permanent or Freelance

Region Kortrijk

Do you want to combine automation with process optimization, technical analysis, and engineering instead of exclusively writing PLC code behind a laptop?

For a modern industrial production environment in the Kortrijk region, we are looking for an Automation & Process Improvement Engineer who critically analyzes machines and processes and brings technical improvements from idea to execution.

You will have a broad role across two production sites, working closely with production, maintenance, and engineering. You will investigate technical losses, seek structural solutions, and receive the space to deepen your expertise in automation, digitalization, and industrial data.

What Will You Do?

  • Improve machines and production processes: You analyze downtime, technical losses, and inefficiencies and convert these into concrete improvement projects.
  • Optimize automation: You work on existing PLC controls and perform adjustments within, among others, Siemens Step 7 and TIA Portal.
  • Perform structural fault analysis: You investigate not only what is going wrong, but especially why problems arise and how they can be definitively avoided.
  • Realize technical improvements: You work together with maintenance and production on optimizations of machines, installations, and production lines.
  • Increase production performance: You help further improve the availability, line speed, quality, and reliability of installations.
  • Make machine data insightful: You support initiatives where technical data is collected and used to better understand processes.
  • Support engineering projects: You participate in expansions, modifications, and the implementation of new technical solutions.
  • Research new technologies: You are given the space to build knowledge around, among others, motion, vision, industrial data, digitalization, and predictive maintenance.

Who Are You?

  • You have a technical education in automation, electromechanics, electronics or a similar field.
  • You have experience with or a good basic knowledge of Siemens Step 7 and/or TIA Portal.
  • You do not need to be a seasoned automation specialist. Technical interest, analytical insight, and the will to learn are at least as important.
  • You find it interesting to understand why machines and processes perform the way they do.
  • You think beyond temporary solutions and enjoy searching for sustainable technical improvements.
  • You enjoy working together with colleagues from maintenance, production, and engineering.
  • You can express yourself fluently in French, as this is important within daily operations.
  • Additionally, you possess practical knowledge of English.
