Job Description

Our client is seeking an experienced Sichuan Cuisine Chef to join its kitchen operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking authentic Sichuan and Chinese cuisine, with a strong focus on wok cooking, flavour consistency, heat control, food quality and presentation.

Job Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook Sichuan and Chinese dishes according to recipes and outlet standards.
  • Independently manage the wok station during preparation and service periods.
  • Control wok heat, cooking time, seasoning, portioning and presentation.
  • Ensure authentic and consistent Sichuan flavours across dishes.
  • Carry out ingredient preparation and mise en place before service.
  • Monitor ingredient freshness, storage and stock rotation.
  • Maintain consistent food quality and presentation.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the wok station and surrounding kitchen areas.
  • Comply with food-safety and kitchen operating procedures.
  • Coordinate with other kitchen sections to ensure timely order fulfilment.
  • Minimise food wastage and use ingredients responsibly.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Head Chef or kitchen management.

Requirements

  • Relevant experience in Sichuan or Chinese cuisine.
  • Strong wok-cooking skills and knowledge of Chinese cooking techniques.
  • Good understanding of heat control, seasoning and cooking timing.
  • Able to independently handle a wok station during busy service periods.
  • Good knowledge of traditional Sichuan flavours and cooking techniques.
  • Experience in established Chinese restaurants or high-volume kitchens is preferred.
  • Able to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen.
  • Strong food hygiene awareness and teamwork.
  • Able to maintain consistent food quality and presentation.
  • Able to work weekends and public holidays according to roster.
