Product Engineer (Early Careers)
About the company
WMG Group is a Singapore-licensed postal operator and cross-border eCommerce logistics business, founded in 1982, with operations across Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong and China. Over the past year we have built a growing set of applications largely with Claude Code — operations, finance, HR and customer tools — and several are now in daily use.
Your tasks
You run the loop from user request to shipped change, with more ownership as you grow.
- Listen and triage. Run one intake channel for bugs, change requests and ideas from staff, partners and customers. Reproduce issues, ask the follow-up questions, and keep a prioritised backlog.
- Understand the process. Sit with operations, finance and customer teams to see how work actually flows. Map the steps, spot where the software helps or gets in the way, and turn that into clear requirements.
- Decide and specify. Weigh effort against impact and recommend what to do next. Write specifications and acceptance criteria that a user can confirm and an AI agent can build from.
- Build with AI agents. Use Claude Code to implement changes, mainly in Python, PHP and TypeScript. Test every change against the acceptance criteria before it goes for review.
- Release and support. Deploy through our GitHub, Vercel and Supabase pipeline under a defined review process. Watch for errors after release and tell users what changed.
- Document. Keep each application's guide, process notes and changelog current.
- Report. Send a weekly summary: what shipped, what's open, and what needs a decision.
Requirements
What you should possess Someone who can code enough to build and debug, but whose real strength is thinking clearly about problems, processes and priorities.
- A diploma or degree in computer science, IT, engineering or a related field, or equivalent self-taught ability
- Up to 3 years of work experience; internships and personal projects count
- Basic programming in Python or PHP, plus enough SQL to query a database
- Comfort with Git and the command line, or willingness to learn them in your first month
- Hands-on use of AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot or similar) on something you built
- Structured thinking: you can break a messy problem into steps and explain the trade-offs
- Effectively bilingual in English and Mandarin to liaise with counterparts in China, and the confidence to ask users "why" until you understand the real need
- Exposure to operations, logistics, eCommerce or finance processes, through work, internships or family business would have an added advantage
- Any web framework, PostgreSQL, Supabase or Vercel
How to apply
To apply, send your CV and a short note on something you built, with or without AI: what problem it solved, what went wrong, and what you would do differently.
