Key responsibilities of a site engineer
- Technical oversight:
- Interpreting and implementing engineering drawings, plans, and specifications.Checking calculations and ensuring accuracy of measurements.
Providing technical advice to subcontractors and site workers.Identifying and resolving technical issues that arise during construction.
- Site management:
- Setting out the site, including leveling and surveying.
Managing the daily construction activities and work schedules. Supervising site labor and subcontractors.Monitoring progress and ensuring compliance with project timelines.
- Quality control:
- Inspecting materials and workmanship to ensure adherence to quality standards.
Implementing quality control procedures and documenting findings.Identifying and addressing quality issues.
- Communication and coordination:
- Liaising with clients, architects, engineers, and other project stakeholders.
Attending project meetings and providing updates on progress.Communicating with subcontractors regarding their work and any necessary changes.
- Safety compliance:
- Enforcing safety regulations on site and ensuring workers adhere to safety procedures.Identifying and mitigating potential safety hazards.
- Documentation and reporting: Maintaining site records and documentation including daily reports, progress reports, and incident reports.Preparing necessary technical reports and calculations.
