Team Lead Full Stack Engineering (m/w/d)
WIScool is not a classic LMS - we are building an AI-native Educational Operating System (EDOS) for schools. We are establishing our European R&D headquarters in Vienna and are looking for a Technical Lead to build the technical foundation of our platform. You will lead a squad of approx. 5 engineers and design an architecture with real-time video, AI-supported pedagogy, and complex administrative workflows.
We are looking for: 1 Team Lead Full Stack Engineering (m/w/d) Tasks (R&D focus)
- End-to-end architecture with Laravel (PHP 8+) and React; scaling for high concurrency (thousands of students simultaneously)
- Leadership: Hiring, mentoring, and sprint planning for Frontend, Backend, and DevOps; quality culture (TDD, CI/CD)
- Innovation: translating pedagogical goals into technical specs; research on LLM/AI integration; aligning the stack with FFG innovation criteria
- Security & Compliance: data protection architectures (GDPR), RBAC
Requirements
- 10+ years Software Engineering, including 3+ years in a leadership role
- Deep expertise in PHP/Laravel and React/TypeScript
- Experience with REST-APIs, Microservices, and cloud-native architectures (AWS)
- Player-Coach: coding critical paths yourself and leading the team
- Business fluent English (German is an advantage)
