Wild Republic is seeking a hands-on Senior Accountant to support and strengthen the financial operations of our German retail business, which includes five zoo retail locations. This role will be responsible for accounting, financial reporting, cash flow forecasting, VAT compliance, and business support for our German operations, in close collaboration with our German Accounting Manager. The German office is in Berlin. You will support the Regional Director in the UK and partner with the Financial Controller and finance team in Denmark.
A key objective will be to bring more finance activities in-house while implementing Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central to provide greater visibility, control, and reporting across the business.
A Role with Impact
As our Senior Accountant Germany, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day financial operations and ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong financial controls, and timely business insights
You will take ownership of month-end close activities, management reporting, VAT compliance, and a rolling 13-week cash flow forecast in collaboration with the German Accounting Manager. You will also lead the finance workstream for the implementation of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, helping establish scalable processes and improved reporting for the German business.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain accurate and timely accounting records for the German retail business.
Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing activities.
Coordinate VAT filings and support statutory reporting requirements.
Reconcile retail sales, banking activity, and inventory-related transactions.
Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
Coordinate with external tax, accounting, and audit advisors while transitioning day-to-day accounting activities to an internally managed model.
Lead the implementation of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and support ongoing process improvements.
Document and improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting capabilities.
What You Bring
Strong finance experience with bookkeeping, financial reporting, and month-end close processes.
Experience with German VAT and local accounting requirements.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Advanced Excel skills and strong Microsoft Office proficiency.
Significant experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and DATEV
Experience of implementing Microsoft 365 Business Central is a significant advantage
Experience in retail, multi-location operations, or inventory accounting is preferred.
Ability to work independently while collaborating with international teams.
Professional proficiency in English and German language skills required.
