Structural Investigations Technician (Lab & Field Based)
Metlab, now part of WH Scott Group, is seeking a motivated technician to join our team. This is a hands-on role carrying out essential structural investigations and materials testing and contributing to our commitment to quality and safety in the civil engineering industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out various types of testing on structures, on-site and in controlled environments.
- Conduct on-site sampling of materials for follow-on laboratory analysis and in-situ testing on structures.
- Perform laboratory and field-testing methods in accordance with standards including BS1377, EN933, EN12390, EN12504 and other relevant civil engineering standards and guidelines.
- Assist with both laboratory and field-based testing activities.
- Develop and apply computer skills using various software including MS Word, MS Excel, CAD and Adobe for the preparation of test reports and certificates, following approved company templates.
- Complete testing documentation on site and maintain accurate records for all investigation works.
- Adhere to the Company's documented Quality and Safety systems.
- Assist in the upkeep, maintenance, and calibration of all company equipment.
- Attend and successfully complete training courses on test methods and safety requirements as needed.
- Develop a strong understanding of national, international, and client-specific standards relevant to both CMT and structural tests and results interpretation.
Qualifications & Experience
- A Civil Engineering degree (Level 7 or higher) or a similar qualification is required for this role.
- Full, clean driving licence.
- Right to work in Ireland.
- Previous experience in construction, structural investigations, materials testing, civil engineering, or related industries is desirable but not essential.
