Senior Staff Nurse – Interventional Radiology [SL]
Job Summary Support the leadership and continuous improvement of nursing services within Diagnostic Imaging Services (DIS), ensuring consistent clinical standards, effective team supervision, and safe patient care throughout diagnostic and interventional procedures. Key Responsibilities Monitor compliance with DIS policies, clinical standards, and established operating procedures. Coordinate clinical audits and support the implementation of evidence-based practices and appropriate technological advancements to improve service quality. Oversee nursing care assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to promote safe and effective patient outcomes. Review patient consent documentation for completeness and validity, and explain the planned procedure, examination process, and anticipated duration before the procedure. Lead the review and updating of SOPs, WIs, and clinical competency checklists in line with current evidence and departmental requirements. Provide guidance and supervision to nursing staff in delivering patient and family education, including pre- and post-interventional care. Provide nursing assistance to radiologists during interventional procedures and support moderate sedation cases with radiologists or anaesthetists, in accordance with approved protocols and authorised competencies. Monitor the accuracy of procedure documentation and billing for consumables and services rendered. Promote compliance with radiation protection requirements and measures to minimise unnecessary exposure. Coordinate an appropriate response to clinical emergencies and support adherence to emergency management procedures. Promote compliance with infection prevention and control standards. Contribute to Nursing Quality Committee meetings, quality improvement projects, and departmental clinical governance initiatives. Carry out other relevant responsibilities assigned by the Assistant Director or Radiologist, within the scope of the position.
