Medical Imaging Technologist [SL]
Job Summary To perform diagnostic imaging procedures safely and effectively, ensuring compliance with departmental SOPs, patient identification and consent requirements, radiation protection standards, image quality expectations, and equipment quality assurance protocols. Key Responsibilities Perform diagnostic imaging procedures in accordance with established SOPs, clinical protocols, and applicable professional standards. Verify patient identity and examination requests before commencing procedures, ensuring that relevant consent and safety checks are completed. Assess image quality and confirm that all required images have been acquired, correctly labelled, and appropriately documented before forwarding them for interpretation or releasing them to patients, where applicable. Ensure accurate entry of examination codes and related information into the relevant hospital information systems. Communicate examination instructions clearly to patients, including the purpose and process of the procedure, expected duration, and relevant preparation requirements. Monitor patients' condition and comfort throughout the examination and provide appropriate assistance in accordance with established protocols. Apply radiation protection principles and appropriate safety measures to minimise unnecessary ionising radiation exposure to patients, healthcare personnel, and members of the public. Participate in the on-call roster and provide after-hours imaging services when required, in accordance with hospital policies and service requirements. Carry out daily equipment QA checks, document findings where required, and report equipment irregularities for appropriate follow-up. Maintain accurate examination records and comply with departmental documentation, patient confidentiality, and quality management requirements. Undertake other duties assigned by the Director that are relevant to the position and within the employee's competence and authorised scope of practice.
