Job Summary Responsible for coordinating clinical nursing practices, operational standards, and quality improvement initiatives within Diagnostic Imaging Services (DIS). The role supports safe and efficient patient care, particularly during interventional procedures and moderate sedation, while promoting compliance with clinical protocols, radiation safety requirements, and infection control standards. Key Responsibilities Support the implementation, monitoring, and review of departmental policies, procedures, and clinical practice standards. Conduct and coordinate clinical audits, review clinical practices, and support the appropriate implementation of new technologies to maintain and improve care quality. Assess patients' nursing needs and oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing interventions in accordance with established clinical standards. Verify the completeness and validity of consent documentation and ensure patients receive clear explanations of the proposed examination or procedure, including its estimated duration. Review, develop, and update departmental SOPs, WIs, and clinical competency checklists using current evidence, clinical guidelines, and relevant professional standards. Supervise and support nursing staff in patient assessment, education, preparation, and post-procedure care, including education for patients' families where appropriate. Assist radiologists during interventional procedures and provide nursing support during moderate sedation cases involving radiologists or anaesthetists, in accordance with approved protocols, training, and scope of practice. Verify that procedures performed and consumables used are documented accurately and that corresponding billing entries are complete and appropriate. Ensure adherence to radiation protection practices to safeguard patients, staff, and the public from unnecessary exposure to ionising radiation. Respond to emergencies promptly, initiate appropriate measures within the scope of practice, and coordinate escalation in accordance with hospital protocols. Implement and reinforce infection prevention and control measures across departmental activities. Participate in Nursing Quality Committee activities and contribute to clinical governance, risk management, audit reviews, and service improvement initiatives. Undertake other duties assigned by the Assistant Director or Radiologist that are relevant to departmental operations and consistent with professional responsibilities.
