Job overview

As a Designer with strong user research skills, you will own the end-to-end design process—from understanding users and defining problems to designing, testing, supporting implementation, and evaluating released experiences. Research will be central to your practice. You will engage users and stakeholders to understand their needs, workflows, and challenges, then translate those insights into intuitive, accessible interfaces. You will work closely with designers, engineers, business analysts, and product managers to carry solutions through to implementation, ensuring that the delivered experience reflects the design intent and addresses users’ needs. We are looking for someone with a passion for social work and improving people’s lives. You should be interested in understanding the lived experiences of citizens and the challenges faced by those who serve them. You will be embedded in a project scrum team as a member of the Design team in GDT. The office will be located at Punggol Digital District.

What to expect

Within your first month... You will understand the product strategy, key user groups, and agency context. You will review existing research, user feedback, and designs to identify gaps and opportunities. You will contribute to active sprints through design improvements, and implementation support, while building relationships with the scrum team and stakeholders.

By the end of 3 months... You will have taken at least one feature through the end-to-end design and delivery process: framing the problem, developing flows and prototypes, testing with users, and producing detailed UI designs. You will work with engineers to implement the feature, review the built experience, and resolve usability and visual design issues before release.

After 6 months...You will independently lead design initiatives with minimal supervision, choosing appropriate research and design methods for the problem and delivery constraints. You will use research findings, product data, and operational context to explain your decisions and influence product priorities. You will carry designs through implementation and use feedback from released features to identify further improvements. You will have opportunities to deepen your research and design craft and contribute to shared practices across the Design team.

Beyond that...

You will continue to solve problems such as:

How can we...

  • better understand and support users’ needs?
  • simplify complex workflows and improve operational efficiency?
  • support better collaboration across teams and agencies?
  • use research and data to improve user experiences?
  • design flexible, reusable solutions for different use cases?
