Job Summary
Support the finance function for dry bulk shipping by managing day-to-day accounting operations including AP/AR transactions, payment processing and bank reconciliations, intercompany balances, voyage accounting, hire statements, cost allocation reporting, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with banking and KYC requirements.
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations including processing accounts payable and receivable transactions to ensure accurate financial records
- Verify invoices and process payments promptly to maintain vendor and customer account accuracy
- Reconcile bank statements regularly to ensure alignment with company financial records
- Maintain and reconcile intercompany balances to support accurate consolidated financial reporting
- Prepare full set of accounts for small entities to comply with accounting standards
- Collaborate with Finance team and internal departments to resolve accounting and payment issues efficiently
- Generate voyage accounting reports, hire statements, and cost allocation reports to support operational and financial analysis
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
- Assist with banking compliance and prepare KYC documentation to meet regulatory requirements
- Perform additional finance and administrative duties as assigned to support business operations
Required competencies and certifications
- Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum 2 to 3 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in shipping or trading industries
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting
- Ability to work independently with strong organizational and time management skills
- Effective communication and coordination skills to liaise with internal and external stakeholders
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Experience using accounting software to enhance accounting efficiency
- Proficiency in Chinese listening, speaking, reading, and writing to communicate with Chinese-speaking counterparts, vendors, and internal stakeholders
