Your tasks

Working within a fast-paced retail environment, you’ll support senior stakeholders with the analysis and insight they need to make better commercial decisions. You’ll be looking across sales, margin, profitability and wider performance, helping the business understand not just what has happened, but why and what it means going forward.

There’s a big emphasis on data within the role. You’ll be working with large datasets, manipulating information from different sources and turning it into clear, useful insight for senior stakeholders. Alongside this, you’ll be heavily involved in forecasting, annual planning, management reporting and scenario modelling.

  • Analyse sales, margin, profitability and other key commercial performance drivers
  • Produce clear analysis that helps explain performance, trends, risks and opportunities
  • Work with large datasets, manipulating financial and commercial information to identify meaningful trends
  • Support quarterly forecasts, annual budgets and longer-term financial plans
  • Provide variance analysis against forecast, budget and prior-year performance
  • Build financial models and scenario analysis to support commercial decisions
  • Work closely with commercial teams to understand performance across different markets and areas of the business
  • Produce insightful management reporting for senior stakeholders
  • Help turn complex financial data into simple, commercially relevant recommendations
  • Support regular performance reviews with finance and operational stakeholders
  • Use Power BI and other reporting tools to improve visibility and quality of information
  • Identify opportunities to simplify and improve existing reporting, forecasting and analytical processes

Requirements

The Candidate

  • Qualified CIMA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent
  • Experience within FP&A, Commercial Finance, Finance Business Partnering or a similar analytical finance role
  • Strong commercial understanding and an interest in what drives business performance
  • Excellent analytical skills and confident working with large and complex datasets
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong financial modelling capability
  • Good budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis experience
  • Able to take complex information and communicate the key message clearly
  • Confident working with and presenting information to senior stakeholders
  • Experience within retail, consumer or another fast-paced commercial environment would be beneficial
  • Power BI, OneStream or similar reporting/planning systems experience would be advantageous

This is a good fit for someone who genuinely enjoys analysis rather than just producing reports. You’ll need to be comfortable getting into large amounts of data, spotting what matters and turning it into something the wider business can actually use to make decisions.
