EVENTS AND SPACE USE COORDINATOR
This position is located in the Pentagon Building Management Office (PBMO) under Washington Headquarters Services. PBMO supports customers planning large meetings or events in the Pentagon and other designated areas. Operating under general guidance, the incumbent is responsible for independently planning, organizing, and executing all major aspects of the Special Events Program, ensuring seamless coordination and mission support.
Major duties
Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following: Plans, organizes, coordinates, and executes a wide range of special events and activities within the Pentagon Reservation, from routine meetings to high-level visits by the President, foreign dignitaries, and other senior officials. Manages all logistical aspects, including technical requirements, equipment, security, and support services to ensure successful execution. Serves as the primary coordinator for construction and space use permits. Reviews, processes, and approves requests for events, construction projects, and First Amendment activities, ensuring strict compliance with the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Department of Defense policies, and established administrative instructions. Acts as the official on-site representative for the Pentagon Building Management Office during events, which frequently occur after hours, on weekends, and on holidays. Responds to and resolves emergent issues, security incidents, and emergency situations requiring prompt, decisive action. Oversees the use of public spaces within the Pentagon to ensure a safe and orderly environment. Manages programs such as corridor storage, inspects and maintains bulletin boards, issues violation notices, and ensures that the facility's appearance and use adhere to all Federal and DoD requirements.
Qualifications
In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below. You may qualify at the GS-12 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) that demonstrates your ability to: 1) planning, organizing, and coordinating a variety of events, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and policies; 2) serving as a primary point of contact for event sponsors to determine their requirements, coordinate services, and arrange for necessary logistical support such as equipment and permits; and 3) assisting in problem-solving during events and communicating complex information effectively, both orally and in writing, to individuals and groups. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
