Waseda Singapore Pte Ltd is a private tuition centre with a total of 500 students in 2 schools and provides education to Japanese children of parents who work in Singapore. The school was founded in 1983. We are one of the largest Japanese tutoring schools in Singapore. Many of our students have been successful in passing Japanese private and public entrance examinations. we are looking for a new colleague to join our team! There are no restrictions on age, gender, race, religion or nationality in recruiting staff In terms of languages, English at an academic level and Japanese at an everyday conversation level are required.

As English Lecturer : Teach English Class (Elementary Eiken Class/ TOEIC/TOEFL/iELTS /Essay Writing / IB English )

Prepare Teaching Material (Textbook/Printing Matters / Model Answers for Entrance Exam)

As Customer Service : Parent Interview (Report personal activity in class / Consultation for entrance exam for returnees) Parent Meeting (Report class activity)

Responsibilities Lecturer

All lessons are taught in Japanese. Therefore, a business level of Japanese (JLPT N1 or equivalent) is a mandatory requirement. Candidates will be subject to a Japanese conversation interview. You will be responsible for several subjects. Knowledge of teaching at least two of the following is required: Japanese and English. In addition, essay writing, interviewing and parent-counselling will be offered in Japanese.

The level of each subject must be at the level of the most difficult entrance examinations for junior high school, high school, or university in Japan. During the recruitment process, candidates will be assessed on these entrance exams as a written test.

There are two main types of work: regular classes and seasonal classes. Regular classes are held during the after-school hours, so classes start after 17:00 in the evening. During the school holidays, classes may be held in the morning. The basic shift is 5.5 days each week, with 5 weekdays plus one Saturday or Sunday every other week, but this changes during the school year.

Our students range from 6 to 18 years old, so we need to teach them in an age-appropriate way. In the classroom, you will be expected to have the personal charm to delight, motivate and inspire your students.

●Ability to communicate in Japanese with customers and employees ●High flexibility and responsiveness as an educator ●Teamwork and leadership as part of a teaching team ●Basic and applied IT skills for creating teaching materials and conducting distance learning. Experience in using Microsoft Office, Slack, Dropbox Business, Zoom, etc.
