Robotics Integration Specialist 3

FUNCTION SUMMARY

Within a dynamic R&D department with a flat structure, the job holder participates in the deployment of robotics within the integrated systems development team. They contribute to accelerating the prototyping of new applications in non-destructive testing and advise the team on the use of robotics to solve problems raised by our customers. The job holder works in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams in a cutting-edge technology environment.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Specific responsibilities

System requirements and functionalities:

• Contribute to the analysis, understanding, and documentation of robotic system requirements and functionalities in collaboration with the system architect and other disciplines;
• Develop and propose robotic concepts;
• Characterize the robotic performance requirements of the system;
• Characterize integration, assembly, and after-sales service requirements, in collaboration with operations;

Architecture:

• Contribute to the definition of the optimal architecture for robotic solutions in collaboration with the system architect and other disciplines;
• Make robotic architecture choices based on available and mastered technologies (UR, Kuka, Fanuc);

Design:

• Define and perform the robotic design of NDT inspection solutions involving multiple technologies (mechanical, electronic, software, acoustic);
• Ensure the optimal integration of the robotic solution into the system;
• Take charge of prototyping new NDT applications before they enter the development phase;
• Responsible for robot programming and the implementation of programs into final solutions;
• Manage the technical risks of the development under their responsibility.

Product verification and validation:

• Define the validation protocol for each of the robotic components and systems;
• Verify the proper functioning of the program and ensure its synergy with other system components;
• Manage the technical risks of the development under their responsibility;
• Supervise robotic design reviews;

Transfer to production:

• Contribute with the project manager and the DevOps team to the planning of the work necessary for the transfer to production;
• Responsible for the transfer to production;
• Provide the necessary robotic specifications to operations and technical writing;

General responsibilities

• Support less experienced robotics integration specialists working on the same project;
• Support teams to maximize the impact of robotic applications on Evident solutions;
• Collaborate with various stakeholders to resolve inter-departmental technical problems;
• Support the introduction and optimize the use of new methods and tools according to the company's technological direction;
• Promote inter-site work and ensure an effective and open link with counterparts at other sites;
• Ensure the proper functioning and maintenance of the equipment in our Industrial Non-Destructive Control Systems Research and Development laboratory;
• Apply the various health and safety standards relating to the use of industrial robotics;
• Maintain a good relationship with robotic equipment suppliers (e.g., Kuka, Fanuc);
• Ensure that an engineer who is a member of the OIQ provides Immediate Direction and Supervision (DSI) of the work on the project in accordance with the Engineers Act. If the designer is a member of the OIQ, they may provide the DSI on the project themselves.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Technical skills:

• Bachelor's degree in robotics engineering, automated production, electrical, or mechanical engineering, with 5 years of design experience or equivalent experience; or
• DEC or AEC in robotics, or in industrial electronics with a minimum of 10 years of significant experience;
• Membership in the professional order of engineers strongly preferred;
• Mastery of Fanuc and/or Kuka and/or UR robot programming;
• Mastery of relevant software tools (Robot DK, Roboguide, RobotMaster, Karel, Krl, Robot Middleware Interface (e.g., ROS), etc.) is an asset;
• Mastery of robotics-related tools (Force Torque Control, Force Torque Sensor Vision, safety, etc.) is an asset;
• Experience in PLC programming and electrical design is an asset;
• Experience in mechanical design is an asset;
• Experience in the configuration, programming, installation, and commissioning of robotic solutions;
• Having contributed significantly to the deployment of robotic solutions that achieved commercial success;
• Ability to quickly learn, adapt, and deploy new technologies;
• Knowledge of robotics aspects in non-destructive testing applications;
• Intermediate English.
