Senior Software Engineer - Java
Senior Software Engineer – Java Financial Crime Product | Backend Engineering | Warsaw Every day, banks process enormous volumes of transactions. Vyntra's Financial Crime platform analyses that data in real time to help financial institutions identify fraud and suspicious activity.
We're growing our engineering team in Warsaw and looking for a Software Engineer who enjoys understanding how systems work, solving difficult problems and improving the technology behind them.
The role You'll join our Financial Crime Product Development team, working in a small, experienced engineering team on backend systems used by banks around the world.
The work is predominantly Java and Spring Boot within a larger distributed platform processing significant volumes of financial data.
We're looking for someone who wants to understand the problem rather than simply implement a ticket. You'll be involved in technical design, development and production, with opportunities to improve existing systems and influence how new solutions are built.
We work from our Warsaw WeWork office a minimum of 2 days per week.
Your work will include
Designing and developing backend services using Java and Spring Boot
Taking features from technical design through development and into production
Working with distributed systems, messaging and large volumes of data
Investigating production issues, finding root causes and implementing long-term solutions
Improving the performance, reliability and scalability of existing systems
Contributing to technical and architectural decisions
Collaborating with other engineers while taking ownership of your own solutions
What we're looking for You have experience building and running production systems and are comfortable working independently on complex technical problems.
You have:
Good hands-on experience with Java and Spring/Spring Boot backend development
Experience with microservices and distributed or cloud-based systems
Experience investigating production issues and troubleshooting beyond your own code
Good understanding of databases and SQL
Good analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience contributing to technical design and making decisions about how things should be built
Experience working in agile development teams
Clear, practical communication skills
You don't need to know every technology we use. Our wider stack includes Kafka and other messaging systems, Docker, Kubernetes, SQL, Grafana, Python, Spark, Elasticsearch and StarRocks.
Experience with some of these is useful, but we're more interested in what you've built, improved or troubleshot than how many technologies you can list.
The team Our Warsaw engineering team is small and close-knit, currently around 10 people and growing to around 15.
It's Vyntra's technical hub for our Financial Crime product, with developers and architects working closely together. It's an environment where engineers can work independently, contribute ideas and have a genuine influence on how things are built.
About Vyntra Vyntra was created through the combination of Swiss fintech NetGuardians and Belgian fintech Intix.
Today we're around 150–160 people globally, with teams across Switzerland, Belgium, Poland, Nairobi and Singapore. Our customers are banks and financial institutions around the world.
In Warsaw, our focus is Financial Crime: building technology that helps banks detect fraud and suspicious activity using large-scale transaction data.
