Materials & Chemical Engineer (f/m/d)

VRI Composites Deutschland GmbH is part of The Gund Company, a global manufacturer of engineered electrical insulation materials, composite components, and precision-machined parts. At our facility in Augsburg, Germany, we develop and manufacture high-performance composite solutions for demanding industrial applications worldwide.

We are seeking a hands-on Materials & Chemical Engineer (f/m/d) to join our composites team in Augsburg. This role supports material development, process improvement, equipment implementation, and technical problem-solving for advanced thermoset composite manufacturing.

Tasks

Serve as a technical resource for composite materials, thermoset formulations, and manufacturing processes.

Develop and adjust formulations to meet or exceed customer expectations.

Research, develop, qualify, and improve new materials, products, and process controls.

Lead problem-solving efforts for material, chemical, and process-related issues.

Partner with engineering, manufacturing, quality, sales, and global teams to deliver customer-focused solutions.

Drive continuous improvement using Lean, Six Sigma, DMAIC, FMEA, Control Plans, and A3 project methods.

Support capital equipment projects, including specifications, statements of work, supplier proposals, installation, and launch.

Profile

Valid German residency and work authorization required; visa sponsorship is not provided.

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

Minimum of 2 years’ experience in manufacturing engineering, composites, thermoset materials, chemical processes, or process development.

Strong project management skills with the ability to move technical work from concept to execution.

Experience with thermoset composites and/or composite processes preferred.

Experience with process documentation, data analysis, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.

Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-moving manufacturing environment.

Bilingual fluency in German and English.
