Viltgarden is seeking summer help and apprentice
At Viltgarden, we meet guests from all over the world every year who come to experience Norwegian nature and get close to Norway's largest cervid – the moose.
For the 2027 season, we are now looking for engaged and positive employees who want to become part of our team.
What we are looking for
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for you who are positive, responsible, and service-oriented, and who thrive in a workday where people, animals, and practical tasks are at the center.
At Viltgarden, a lot happens during a summer day. Therefore, it is important that you are flexible, see what needs to be done, and are not afraid to take initiative. You must be able to work independently, while also enjoying being part of a small team where everyone helps each other.
We believe you will fit well with us if you:
Are outgoing and like meeting new people
Are confident, calm, and respectful when working with animals
Are service-oriented and want to give our guests a good experience
Take responsibility and initiative without having to be told everything that needs to be done
Are flexible and enjoy varied work tasks
Are reliable and show up when you are supposed to
Thrive with a high tempo and many people during parts of the season
Are comfortable speaking and communicating in front of both small and large groups
Can work both independently and together with others
Want to learn and develop yourself.
For summer help, you must be at least 18 years old and have a class B driver's license.
Since we receive many international guests, it is important that you can communicate well in English. If you speak German, this is a great advantage and something we particularly appreciate. Other languages are also positive.
Experience with animals, tourism, guiding, camping, catering, or customer service is an advantage, but not decisive. We are more interested in finding the right people with the right attitude and willingness to learn.
For you applying for an apprentice position, we are looking for a person who is curious, willing to learn, and genuinely interested in animals and animal welfare. You must be motivated to develop professionally and gradually take on more responsibility throughout your apprenticeship.
Work tasks
At Viltgarden, you will have a varied workday where animals, people, nature, and good experiences are at the center. No two days are exactly alike, and we are looking for you who thrive on variety and who like to take initiative when something needs to be done.
The work tasks will vary throughout the season and may include, among others:
Daily care, feeding, and supervision of our animals
Reception and follow-up of Norwegian and international guests
Guiding, presentation, and communication about moose and other animals
Reception and handling of larger groups and cruise guests
Reception work, booking, and follow-up of camping guests
Catering, sales, and simple kitchen tasks
Cleaning and preparation of camping, cabins, sanitary facilities, and common areas
Practical work and maintenance tasks on the premises
Contributing to ensuring that the park and public areas always appear tidy and inviting
Other tasks related to the daily operation of Viltgarden
We are a workplace where everyone contributes where needed. This means you must be comfortable moving from meeting and guiding a large group of international guests to helping with animal care, catering, cleaning, or practical tasks later in the day.
We do not expect you to know everything from day one. The most important thing is that you take responsibility, show initiative, are willing to learn, and see what needs to be done.
With us, you are also an important part of the guests' encounter with Viltgarden. We therefore place great emphasis on good hospitality, service, and the ability to create a pleasant and professional experience for our guests.
What we offer
What do we offer?
At Viltgarden, you get more than just a summer job. You become part of a small and varied workplace where animals, nature, people, and experiences meet, and where you get the opportunity to develop through practical experience and responsibility.
We offer, among other things:
A unique and varied workplace with the moose and other animals as a natural part of the workday
Experience in tourism, animal care, guiding, hospitality, camping, and catering
Contact with guests from all over the world and valuable experience from international tourism
Good training and the opportunity to learn several sides of the operation
Varied workdays with both independent tasks and collaboration
Opportunity to develop within communication and guiding, also in front of larger groups
Responsibility and trust adapted to experience and development
A small work environment where everyone contributes and becomes an important part of the team
Work in nature-proximate surroundings in Iveland
Salary according to agreement
For the right person, there are also opportunities for further work and development with us beyond the summer season.
For you applying for an apprentice position
As an apprentice at Viltgarden, you will have the opportunity to complete your apprenticeship in an environment where you get to work practically and closely with animals, while also gaining experience with animal welfare, feeding, supervision, communication, and daily operations.
We want to give the apprentice real responsibility, good guidance, and broad practical experience. The goal is that through the apprenticeship, you will develop both professionally and personally and become confident in working independently.
