Job description:

• Designing and building production AI systems - from data processing and evaluation to deployment and production monitoring
• Working on document processing and unstructured data: classification, extraction, validation, and integration into existing business processes
• Integration of large language and visual models into our applications, including assessing whether a commercial API or proprietary infrastructure is more cost-effective
• Establishing quality measurements - test sets, phase-specific metrics, and monitoring deviations after deployment
• Making technical decisions, presenting, and justifying them to the rest of the team and business stakeholders, including decisions on whether or not a problem should be solved with a model
• Mentoring colleagues and participating in code reviews.

Mandatory requirements for the position:

• VŠS or VSS, preferably technical orientation (informatics, computer science, electrical engineering, or related fields)
• Five or more years of experience in software, of which at least two years on machine learning systems that were in production
• Python at an independent working level and experience with at least one of PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX
• Proven experience in deploying models — containers, APIs, model versioning, production monitoring
• Ability to measure quality — accuracy on a test set is not the same as accuracy in production, and one must know how to verify it
• Working with data — SQL, building data pipelines, understanding data quality and bias
• Croatian and English at a daily technical working level

Experience, professional knowledge, and competencies that are not mandatory but are an advantage:

• Experience with document processing, OCR, or computer vision
• Working with LLMs in production — RAG, evaluation, cost control per request
• Proprietary inference infrastructure and model optimization (quantization, GPU serving)
• Experience in telecommunications, traffic, or logistics
• Working under GDPR requirements and with sensitive data
