About the company

We’re delighted to be recruiting on behalf of our client, a well-established housing provider, for a Mobile Maintenance Operative. This is a varied, hands-on role looking after six independent living schemes for older residents across Oxfordshire, delivering both responsive repairs and planned maintenance.

Your tasks

You’ll be the go-to person for keeping these buildings safe, clean and well looked after, working independently and managing your own day, while making a real difference to the residents who live there.

What you’ll be doing

• Carrying out minor repairs to internal and external communal areas across all six sites
• Diagnosing and fixing smaller repair issues within residents’ individual flats
• Looking after the overall condition of the buildings, including hands-on cleaning tasks such as clearing and cleaning bin stores and jet washing outdoor areas
• Planning your own schedule so that repairs on each site are grouped together, cutting down on travel
• Working closely with scheme managers and colleagues to keep on top of repairs and spot issues early
• Checking that tools and equipment are in good working order and flagging anything that needs replacing

What success looks like

• Minor repairs completed within agreed timescales
• 95% customer satisfaction from residents
• Repairs on a scheme completed in a single visit wherever possible

Requirements

What we’re looking for

• Experience in general maintenance, multi-trade or handyperson work
• Confidence diagnosing and fixing minor repairs on your own
• Good organisation, with the ability to plan your own workload across several sites
• A friendly, patient and respectful approach with older residents
• A full UK driving licence and access to your own car (essential, as you’ll be travelling between sites daily)
