This Pharmacy Program Support Technician (PST) position is located within the Pharmacy Service at the Dayton VA Medical Center, Dayton, OH. The Pharmacy PST serves in the Office of the Chief as the Program Support Technician for Pharmacy Services which includes three on-site pharmacy locations and several Outpatient Community-Based Clinics. VA Careers - Pharmacy: https://youtube.com/embed/Fn_ickNBEws Duties include: Manages executive office in support of senior pharmacy leadership to include time management, correspondence, meeting minutes, spreadsheets, reports, presentations, policies, newsletters, etc.; Prepares documents and spreadsheets utilizing good grammar, punctuation and proper formatting via various computer office software systems; Serves as service record manager following defined regulations regarding record retention; Serves as TMS administrator and student liaison for the service; Serves as primary timekeeper for the service; Assists with inventory management and ordering of medications; Operates and maintains complicated pharmacy automated equipment and office equipment; Prepares outpatient drug orders including interpretation of prescriptions, proper medication selection of correct strength and dosage form, accurate counts, and recordkeeping compliance; Prepares inpatient drug orders according to established procedures and protocols as assigned; Collects drug use evaluation data for quality improvement purposes as required; Supports clinical section when requested to include maintenance of dashboards and patient care; Support of other duties as assigned in inpatient, outpatient and clinical sections; Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm. Qualifications

Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. English Language Proficiency: You must be proficient in spoken and written English in accordance with 38 U.S.C.7403(f). Certification: For positions above the full performance level, the employee must pass a national certification exam and hold an active national certification through either: Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB), Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT). OR National Healthcareer Association (NHA), Certified Pharmacy Technician (ExCPT). Grade Determinations: Experience: One year of experience equivalent to the next lower level GS-7. Certification: For positions above the full performance level, the employee must pass a national certification exam and hold an active national certification through either: (a) PTCB as a CPhT. OR (b) NHA as a ExCPT Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs). In addition to the experience above, the candidate must demonstrate the following KSAs for all GS-08 assignments and meet any additional KSAs for the assignment, if indicated: (a) Comprehensive knowledge of concepts, principles, methodology and policies in a specialized area or section of pharmacy (such as sterile compounding, controlled substances, automation, clinical pharmacy, contact center, etc.) Note: See Specialized Area.in the Definitions Section. (b) Skill in training and orienting new and existing pharmacy facility employees and students on proper policies and procedures. (c) Ability to evaluate, analyze and coordinate workflow and work activities within a specialized area or section of the pharmacy. May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation and meet the criteria). Physical Requirements: Some of the work involves extended periods of time standing, sitting, or doing computer work. Duties regularly involve lifting/carrying of pharmaceutical supplies weighing up to 40 pounds, lifting to stock shelves, bending/stooping, and walking to various parts of the Dayton VA Medical Center grounds which may involve some minor exertion. Endurance of very stressful periods may be required due to uncontrollable workload demands. This position requires average agility and dexterity. Professional appearances per pharmacy dress code, attitude and demeanor are required.

Requirements

You must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this job.
