This position serves as the Logistics Management Specialist - Assistant Chief Supply Chain Officer (ACSCO), assisting the Chief Supply Chain Officer (CSCO) in developing and integrating a supply chain that meets the logistical requirements of the VA Health Care Systems and supported catchment areas.

Major duties

Major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: Oversees, guides, manages, and integrates supply chain operations across the organization; Plans and coordinates fiscal, acquisition, clinical and administrative operations; Establishes, monitors and manages the performance and measurement of logistics functions for all aspects of the supply chain; Conducts logistics audits, compliance reviews and program effectiveness/efficiency reviews; Manages all activities involved in the supply chain management to include sourcing, procurement and logistics management activities; Responsible for linking major business functions and processes within the organization into a cohesive and high-performing business model; Forecast planning and budget execution for supplies, subsistence, durable medical equipment, medical gases, expendable/non-expendable and capital equipment, inventory management, warehouse operations, transportation and distribution; Leads and/or participates in regular meetings, ensuring logistics needs and requirements are being met; and Performs other related duties as assigned.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30AM to 4PM. Work schedule is subject to change based on agency needs.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/22/2026.

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-13 position, you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-12 level. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.

You may qualify based on your experience as described below:

Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade, GS-12, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: serving as a supply chain management leader/supervisor, responsible for ensuring the logistical requirements of an organization are met; planning/coordinating and evaluating various operations to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of a logistics program. Areas of knowledge and skill should include acquisition management, purchasing, transportation, distribution, inventory management and control, expendable and non-expendable equipment, and warehouse operations; experience assisting with budget formulation and forecasting of expenditures. At this level, candidates should possess experience in overseeing and managing a group with a variety of occupations and subordinate supervisors.
