The Logistics Procurement department is a central part of the Global Procurement team and is responsible for building and managing strategic partnerships with logistics service providers worldwide. The department plays a critical role in ensuring that sufficient logistics capacity is available to meet business requirements while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, service and cost competitiveness. As a global function, the Logistics Procurement team is responsible for a wide range of logistics categories that enable efficient transport of materials, components and equipment along Vestas' entire value chain. These include Project Transport with ship charter, port operations and road and rail transport of large components, as well as General Freight & Logistics Services, including sea freight, air freight, land transport, express and courier services, warehousing and customs-related activities.
Responsibilities
- Act as a global warehouse process expert, drive best practices, and ensure warehouse solutions meet business and regional needs
- Lead the global Warehousing & Customs category with a high degree of ownership and take responsibility for sourcing decisions, supplier strategies and operational improvements
- Manage supplier relationships, including procurement, tendering, contract negotiations, and performance management of warehouses, 3PL service providers, and customs brokers
- Act as a category expert for customs and international trade and ensure compliance with import/export regulations and customs requirements
- Monitor market developments, regulatory changes, and potential risks to develop proactive category and supplier strategies
- Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs), analytics, and reporting to measure supplier performance, costs, service, and customs clearance
- Drive continuous improvement, digitalization, and cross-functional collaboration to support efficient end-to-end supply chain and logistics processes
Qualifications
- Completed Bachelor's or Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, International Trade, Purchasing, Business Administration, or a comparable field of study
- Sound experience in global procurement, category management, or strategic sourcing with a focus on warehousing, logistics, customs, and trade compliance
- Proven knowledge of warehouse operations, warehouse networks, storage and distribution processes, as well as the management of warehouse service providers
- Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities simultaneously, and implement complex procurement and operational initiatives with a high degree of autonomy. Experience in managing supplier relationships, commercial negotiations, and creating value through warehousing and logistics contracts
- Analytical skills and problem-solving competence with the ability to translate data and market insights into sound business decisions
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, as well as the ability to collaborate effectively across functions, regions, and hierarchical levels
- Experience in handling supply chain and logistics technologies, including Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), customs platforms, ERP systems, as well as digital procurement and supply chain tools
