We're looking for a Trainee Motor Trade Renewals Handler to join our Clegg Gifford team, part of the Markerstudy Group, based in Edinburgh.

Whether you're currently working in customer service, sales, administration or looking to take your first step into the insurance industry, this could be a great opportunity for you.

You don't need previous insurance experience – we're looking for someone with the right attitude, strong communication skills and a willingness to learn. We'll provide the training and support to help you develop your knowledge and confidence.

The Role As a Trainee Motor Trade Renewals Handler, you'll learn how to support existing customers with renewing their motor trade insurance policies, ensuring they receive the right cover and a positive customer experience.

Working alongside experienced colleagues, you'll develop an understanding of insurance products, renewal processes and how to build strong relationships with customers and insurers.

As your knowledge and confidence grow, you'll gradually take on more responsibility, managing your own renewals and helping customers find suitable insurance solutions.

What You'll Be Doing

• Supporting the team with managing motor trade insurance renewals from start to finish
• Contacting existing customers to discuss their upcoming renewals and insurance requirements
• Building positive relationships with customers and delivering excellent customer service
• Learning how different insurance policies work and how to explain cover, terms and conditions clearly
• Working with experienced colleagues to obtain and negotiate renewal terms with insurers
• Helping customers understand their renewal options and make informed decisions
• Processing policy renewals and ensuring documentation is accurate and issued on time
• Responding to customer enquiries via telephone and email
• Identifying opportunities to retain customers and provide additional products where appropriate
• Maintaining accurate customer records and updating internal systems
• Learning about FCA regulations, Consumer Duty and company compliance requirements
• Working towards individual and team targets as your experience develops
• Taking part in training and development opportunities to build your insurance knowledge

What We're Looking For Ideally, you'll have:

• Previous experience in customer service, retail, hospitality, sales or administration, although this isn't essential
• Confidence speaking with customers over the telephone and by email
• A friendly, professional and approachable manner
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Good attention to detail and organisational skills
• A willingness to learn new skills and develop your knowledge
• A positive attitude and the ability to work well as part of a team
• Good computer skills, including Microsoft Office
• The ability to manage your workload and prioritise tasks
• A genuine interest in developing a career within the insurance industry

Previous experience in insurance would be an advantage, but it's certainly not essential, as full training will be provided.
