We are seeking an experienced Payroll Advisor to join an organisation with a strong focus on support their local community. This role will primarily be delivering an accurate, compliant, and efficient payroll service. This role is ideal for a payroll professional who also has experience supporting broader HR activities and enjoys working in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll

  • Manage and coordinate monthly payroll, ensuring all deadlines are met and payroll is processed accurately
  • Administer starters, leavers, contractual changes, salary amendments, deductions, and expenses
  • Prepare and submit payroll reports and payroll instructions to the payroll provider
  • Ensure compliance with payroll legislation, tax regulations, and statutory requirements
  • Respond to payroll queries and maintain accurate employee payroll records
  • Support year-end payroll activities, including P11Ds, payrolling benefits, PSA submissions, and audit requirements
  • Liaise with Finance to ensure payroll costs are accurately recorded and reported

Pensions & Benefits

  • Administer pension schemes, including auto-enrolment, contributions, re-enrolment exercises, and pension queries
  • Manage life assurance administration and annual renewals
  • Support the administration of employee benefits and reward programmes
  • Liaise with external providers to ensure an excellent employee experience

HR Support

  • Provide first-line HR advice and guidance to employees and managers
  • Support absence management administration and maintain accurate HR records
  • Assist with onboarding and recruitment administration, ensuring new starters are set up correctly for payroll
  • Maintain employee data within HR and payroll systems and produce reports as required

About You

  • Previous experience in a payroll-focused role (3 years expeirence)
  • Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, pensions, tax, and compliance requirements
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage confidential information
  • Experience working with payroll and HR systems
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • CIPD Level 3 qualification or payroll qualification desirable, but not essential
