M&E Surveyor

We are currently supporting a local authority in East Anglia with the recruitment of a permanent Mechanical & Electrical Surveyor . This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced M&E professional to take ownership of compliance, maintenance, asset investment, and decarbonisation programmes across the Council's housing stock, ensuring all mechanical and electrical systems remain safe, compliant, and fit for purpose.

Mechanical & Electrical Surveyor Salary: Negotiable Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time Location: East Anglia Start Date: ASAP

Responsibilities Act as the competent person for M&E systems across the Council's housing stock Manage electrical safety programmes including EICRs, remedial works, fixed wiring inspections, and compliance activities Oversee fire safety systems including emergency lighting, fire alarms, smoke control, sprinkler, and misting systems Manage ventilation systems including MVHR, PIV, and extraction systems Maintain accurate asset registers, certification records, compliance data, and audit trails Ensure statutory compliance requirements are achieved and maintained across all M&E disciplines Support delivery of the Council's 5-Year Maintenance Programme Plan and deliver electrical heating replacement programmes and electrical upgrade projects Support asset investment planning, financial forecasting, and monitoring activities Produce reports on programme performance, budgets, and key performance indicators Drive continuous service improvement and value for money across M&E services Support the delivery of housing decarbonisation initiatives Oversee installation, compliance, monitoring, and inspection programmes relating to Air Source Heat Pumps, Solar PV, Solar Thermal, and EV charging infrastructure Manage specialist contractors delivering installation, maintenance, inspection, and compliance works Monitor contractor performance, compliance, quality, and value for money Support procurement activities and ensure contractor documentation remains up to date

Experience & Skills Relevant technical qualification or equivalent experience within Mechanical & Electrical Services, Asset Management, Compliance, or Building Services Level 3 Diploma in Electrical Installations and current 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification Strong knowledge of statutory compliance, health and safety legislation, and industry best practice relating to housing assets Experience managing domestic heating and electrical services maintenance programmes Good understanding of compliance data management, certification, and audit requirements
