Head of Assurance

Venn Group’s specialist Estates & Facilities recruitment team is recruiting for a Head of Assurance on behalf of a large NHS Trust in Surrey. This opportunity offers the chance to lead the development of a newly established Assurance function, driving statutory compliance, governance, and operational excellence across a complex healthcare estate.

The role

You will be responsible for:

• Leading the Trust-wide Estates & Facilities Assurance function, ensuring compliance with all statutory, regulatory, and NHS standards
• Developing and implementing a compliance and assurance strategy, alongside robust governance, audit, and reporting frameworks
• Providing expert leadership on hard services compliance, asset management, health & safety, and engineering assurance across multiple hospital and community sites
• Leading compliance performance monitoring, risk management, and assurance reporting to senior stakeholders and executive committees
• Managing specialist teams responsible for compliance, health & safety, CAFM systems, asset management, CAD/BIM, and utilities management
• Working closely with Estates, Capital, Quality, and Sustainability teams to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence
• Ensuring all statutory maintenance, PPM programmes, and asset management activities are delivered in line with SFG20 and relevant NHS guidance

About you

• Significant experience in a senior Estates & Facilities compliance, assurance, or engineering leadership role
• Technical or engineering qualification with evidence of continued professional development
• Strong knowledge of statutory compliance, NHS estates regulations, HTMs, HBNs, Health & Safety legislation, and CQC requirements
• Experience developing and implementing compliance strategies, governance frameworks, and assurance reporting
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage change within complex operational environments
• Strong stakeholder management, leadership, and communication skills
• Healthcare or NHS Estates experience

• Pay rate: £388 per day
• Location: Surrey
• Contract: 3-6 months initially (potential to become permanent)
• Start: ASAP
