Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Maximo Database Administrator to support a major Maximo upgrade and database migration programme within the Aerospace & Defence sector .

The project involves the technical upgrade of an existing Maximo 7.6 environment running on Oracle to Maximo Application Suite (MAS) 9.x running on DB2 , hosted in Azure Cloud .

This is primarily a technical lift-and-shift migration and upgrade , involving the migration of existing Maximo designs and configurations into MAS 9.x, together with the technical changes and remediation required as part of the upgrade.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support Oracle-to-DB2 database migration activities.
  • Perform DB2 database administration, configuration and tuning .
  • Install and configure DB2 environments across the required infrastructure.
  • Develop and implement database backup and recovery strategies .
  • Perform database performance optimisation for Maximo Application Suite (MAS).
  • Support database security, access controls and compliance requirements.
  • Refactor and remediate existing PL/SQL stored procedures for compatibility with DB2.
  • Identify and resolve database-related issues arising during the Maximo upgrade and migration.
  • Support technical remediation and optimisation activities throughout the migration programme.
  • Ensure database environments are stable, secure, performant and ready for production use.

Essential Technical Experience

  • Strong hands-on experience as a DB2 Database Administrator .
  • Proven experience with Oracle-to-DB2 migrations .
  • Experience with database installation, configuration, administration and tuning .
  • Strong knowledge of DB2 performance optimisation .
  • Experience developing backup and recovery strategies .
  • Experience with database security and compliance .
  • Strong understanding of PL/SQL and experience refactoring stored procedures for DB2.
  • Experience supporting Maximo / Maximo Application Suite environments.
  • Experience with database migration and upgrade programmes .
  • Exposure to Azure Cloud environments.

Project Details

The programme will involve:

Current Environment: Maximo 7.6 + Oracle

Target Environment: Maximo Application Suite (MAS) 9.x + DB2

Cloud Platform: Azure

Migration Approach: Technical lift-and-shift upgrade and database migration, including remediation of components affected by the platform and database changes.
