Crane Operator

Job Objective

Operate cranes safely and efficiently for the lifting, movement, and positioning of loads, complying with lifting plans, operating procedures, and safety standards, ensuring the integrity of personnel, equipment, and facilities.

Main Responsibilities

• Operate cranes in accordance with lifting plans and safety procedures.
• Perform visual and functional inspection of the equipment before operation.
• Interpret load charts and crane operating limits.
• Coordinate maneuvers with riggers, signal persons, and on-site supervisors.
• Guarantee the controlled and stable movement of loads.
• Stop operations in the event of unsafe conditions.
• Maintain communication via radio or hand signals.
• Report mechanical failures or detected risks.

Technical Knowledge

• Operation of cranes according to the certified type.
• Interpretation of load charts.
• Lifting signals and operational communication.
• Safety procedures in lifting maneuvers.
• Correct use of PPE.

Required Certifications

• Current certification as a Crane Operator (NCCCO or recognized equivalent).
• Specific certification by the type of crane operated.
• Induction in industrial safety and use of PPE.
• Working at heights and signal person (desirable depending on the project).

Education

Technical degree in an industrial or mechanical area.
