Role overview
We're looking for a DevOps engineer with a strong database background. The right candidate combines solid AWS infrastructure experience with a DBA mindset — someone who is proactive about performance, cost, and reliability without needing to be prompted. This is a hands-on role with real ownership across multiple deployment targets (Managed Services, SaaS, on-prem). Priority for AI enabled DevOps engineers who leverage agentic workflows in their day-to-day work.
Key responsibilities
Manage and optimise database infrastructure across AWS (ECS/EC2, EKS)
Drive query performance tuning, indexing, connection pooling, and replication management
Own infrastructure-as-code using TypeScript CDK; rare manual console changes
Identify and execute cost optimisation opportunities across RDS/Aurora, storage, and compute
Build automation tooling in Bash and TypeScript for backup validation, failover testing, and capacity planning
Collaborate with engineering teams on schema design and data access patterns ahead of implementation
Maintain CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure changes across all deployment targets
Requirements
3+ years in a DevOps, platform, or infrastructure role with a strong database focus
Production-level experience with PostgreSQL (query plans, vacuuming, partitioning, replication)
Hands-on AWS experience with RDS, Aurora, and at least one of ECS or EKS
Infrastructure-as-code proficiency; TypeScript CDK preferred, Terraform or Pulumi considered
Proficient in Bash scripting
Agentic AI workflows
